Jacket Runners Tune Up with Dual (10/25/05)

BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State-Billings and Dickinson State cross-country teams ran a short dual meet on Tuesday in Billings.  The Blue Hawks ran away with the men’s race while the Yellowjacket women edged the Hawks by a point. 

The same teams will meet Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Riverfront Park in Billings in another dual.  The race will be preceded by the annual Yellowjacket Fun Run at 9:00 a.m.  Early registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

The Blue Hawks’ John Kungu coasted to the men’s individual victory Tuesday, running the 5K in 15:29.  Sam Hartpence (Jr., Custer, SD) was the top Yellowjacket finisher in fifth place with a time of 16:48.

Dickinson’s Chioko Nakasone rallied to capture the women’s top individual place.  After trailing at the mile mark, she came on to win the two-mile race in 12:18.  The Yellowjackets’ Susan Kocab (Fr., Billings, MT) finished second in 12:40.
