Jackets Host Carroll (10/13/05)
BILLINGS, MT - After having their 16 game
unbeaten home streak broken Wednesday after a double overtime
loss to the Battlin' Bears, the Lady
Jackets will be looking for a win to wrap up their home season.
The Jackets will host Carroll College Saturday at 1 p.m. at
College of Technology Field.
The Saints enter Saturday with a record of
9-2-1, and have posted five shutouts against their opponents
this season. The Saints are also averaging 3.5 goals per game.
The Yellowjackets are led by Ally
Stoup (Jr., Ojai, CA) and Brittney Sandau (So., Billings, MT) who have posted eight
goals apiece this season. Goalkeeper Megan Plank (Jr., Phoenix, AZ) has posted five shutouts and
holds a 1.05 goals against average to that of her opponents
2.08. The Jackets hold a one-game series edge over the Saints
with an all-time record of 8-7-0. The last meeting between the
teams was September 18, 2005. The Saints came out on top
posting a 3-0 win.
Saturday’s game will be the final home game
for the Jackets’ lone senior, Lacey Albrent (D, Ojai, CA). Albrent played in and started
27 games over her two seasons as a Yellojacket. In 2004,
Albrent was named the team’s Newcomer of the Year for anchoring
the Yellowjacket defense that set school records for goals
against average and fewest goals allowed in a season. Albrent
will graduate with a Bachelors of Science degree in Human
Performance.
Saturday’s game will also feature a
barbeque for $3. The BBQ is free for those students with a
current MSUB student ID. After the match up against Carroll,
the Jackets head to Texas where they will face Heartland
Conference opponents Incarnate Word and St. Edward’s. The team
will play a neutral game against non-conference opponent St.
Angelo in San Antonio before returning home for the second and
deciding game against Rocky Mountain College for the 2005
Rimrock Cup Championship hosted by the Bears. |
