Stroup Earns Second POTW Honor (10/4/05)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings women’s
soccer player Ally
Stroup has been named the Heartland Conference offensive
player of the week for the
second time this season. Stroup was also the conference’s
offensive player of the week for the week of September 5-11. The
Yellowjackets, 7-2-1 overall and playing in their first year in
the Heartland Conference, have had five player of the week
selections.
Stroup, a junior
midfielder from Ojai, Calif., scored two goals and had an
assist to lead Montana State University-Billings to a 3-2 overtime
victory at University of Mary on Sunday. She assisted on the
first goal of the game and scored a pair of goals in a span of
nine and a half minutes to rally the Yellowjackets from a 2-1
deficit.
With MSU Billings trailing 2-1, Stroup
dribbled through the defense and scored from 18 yards out in the
85th minute to tie the game and force overtime. In the
extra period she rebounded her own shot and scored the game winner
4:27 into OT.
On the season Stroup leads MSU Billings in
goals (7), assists (4), and points (18). She currently ranks
second in the Heartland Conference for points, goals and assists.
Already the school career record holder with 19 assists, Stroup is
now just nine goals and eight points shy of reaching those school
career records respectively. |
