Albrent Named Heartland Defensive POTW (9/27/05)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings
defender Lacey Albrent has been selected as the Heartland Conference
women’s soccer defensive player of the week. Albrent is a senior
from Ojai, Calif.
Albrent returned to the lineup after missing
the last three games to lead MSU Billings to a 1-0 overtime
victory over Colorado School of Mines on Saturday. The anchor of
the Yellowjacket defense helped limit the Orediggers to six total
shots, only two of which were on goal. Albrent was in the center
of the defense each time Colorado Mines mounted a charge, turning
the ball away each time and often starting the Yellowjacket
attack.
In the six games in which Albrent has played
this season, the Yellowjackets have allowed just four goals. The
team’s season goals-against average is a low 0.76. With Albrent
in the lineup it’s a paltry 0.64. The Yellowjackets lead the
Heartland Conference in three defensive statistical categories:
goals against average (0.76), saves (32), and shutouts (5).
MSU Billings next plays on October 2 when the
Yellowjackets travel to Bismarck to face University of Mary. The
Jackets’ next home game is October 6 when they host Dallas Baptist
University. |
