Lady Jacket Soccer Adds Two (5/12/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings women’s soccer coach Don Trentham has announced
the signing of two more recruits to national letters of intent.
Kaily Hoffman of Fort Collins, Colo., and Ashley Glather of
Graham, Wash., will join the Yellowjackets as freshmen this fall
and bring Trentham’s 2006 recruiting class to six. Earlier in
the year he signed Jelisa Guy from Kalispell, Mont., Samantha
Boehm from Wilsonville, Ore., Dani Ritter from Great Falls,
Mont., and Caitlin Differding from Sammamish, Wash.
Glather graduates in June from
Bethel High School in Spanaway, Wash. She was a three-year
letter winner in soccer. She earned all-league first team
honors as a center-mid in 2005 and honorable mention recognition
in 2004. Glather scored seven goals last season.
“Ashley will add depth to an
already very talented midfield,” said Trentham. “She comes to
us from the same club program (FC Royals) that produced Mandy
Ploskonka, Chelsea Libby, and Katie Ginther. She is a tenacious
player on defense and a creative player in attack. I suspect
she will compete for time her freshman year.”
Hoffman will graduate at the
end of May from Rocky Mountain High School in Fort Collins. She
was a goalkeeper for the Lobos and also played for Fort Collins
Arsenal Royal Soccer Club.
“Kaily is a good addition to
the program,” said Trentham. “She is a good goalkeeper now and
will be even better after playing a year under our captain and
three-time MVP Megan Plank. Furthermore, having the opportunity
to train with coach Kevin Petritz on a daily basis will help her
to fine tune some of the technical and tactical skills needed to
be successful at the college level. I expect her to learn the
ropes her freshman year and be ready to compete for the starting
spot in 2007.”
The Yellowjackets were 11-5-2
last year, their second consecutive winning season. The Lady
Jackets also qualified for the Heartland Conference Championship
Tournament in their first year in the league. In the past two
seasons MSU Billings is a combined 23-9-5. |
