Box Score
PUEBLO, CO - The Montana
State-Billings women's soccer team dropped the first game of a
three game road trip on Friday, falling to Colorado
State-Pueblo, 2-1. The game was the season opener for both
squads.
“The team played well today, we were just
unlucky,” said head coach Don Trentham.
The Jackets led 1-0 after Ally
Stroup (Jr., MF, Ojai, CA) found Sara
Gress (Fr., MF, Boise, ID) in front of the goal. Gress
missed a wide-open header, bouncing the ball off the crossbar and deflecting to Brittany Sandau (So., F, Billings, MT). Sandau found the net
with no defenders in sight at 46:25 of the second half.
The Thunderwolves evened the game on an
unassisted goal by Beccah Drennan in the 51st minute
of the second half. With the game
apparently heading for overtime, the Thunderwolves' Robin
Hayes found the net to score the game winning goal with just 1:07
left in regulation time.
The Jackets and Thunderwolves were evenly
matched having nine shots on goal apiece with MSUB out-shooting
the Wolves 15-12. Goalkeeper Megan Plank (Jr., Phoenix, AZ) made seven saves in the game.
“In our game against Fort Lewis we will
need to play well and at one-hundred percent as I am sure it
will be a tight game against the Skyhawks,” said Trentham.
The Lady Jackets will play their second of
three road games in Durango, Colo., against Fort Lewis College
