Montalban Finishes 33rd at WWU Invite (10/11/05)
BELLINGHAM, WA – Montana
State-Billings golfer Halley Montalban shot an 88 Tuesday
to place 33rd at the Western Washington
Invitational. The sophomore from Billings carded rounds
of 89, 87, and 88 for a three-round total of 264 (+33) at
the par-73 Bellingham Golf and Country Club.
Tournament host and nationally-ranked
Western Washington breezed to the team title behind three
top 10 finishers. The Vikings shot rounds of 309, 305,
and 302 for a 40-over 916. Teammates Katja Trygg and
Catherine Kim were the top two individual medalists.
Trygg won the tourney with a 3-under 216 after rounds of
71, 74, and 71.
MSU Billings finished ninth in the
nine-team tournament. The Yellowjackets shot team rounds
of 360, 375, and 368 for a total of 1103 (+227). Emily
Maag (So., Billings, MT) was close behind Montalban with a
three-round total of 268 (+49). She shot rounds of 85,
94, and 89. Her first round 85 was the team’s lowest of
the tournament.
The Lady Jackets continue their fall
season October 17 and 18 when they travel to Grand
Junction, Colo., for the Mesa State Invitational. They
will wrap up the fall season October 24 and 25 at the
Otter Invitational in Seaside, Calif.
