Lady Jacket Golfers Eighth After Day One (4/3/06)
AMARILLO, TX – The Montana
State-Billings women’s golf team shot a combined 374 at
the Lady Buffalo Classic Monday to stand in eighth place
in the field of ten after the first 18 holes of play.
The Jackets will play the final 18 holes Tuesday at the
Tascosa Country Club in Amarillo, Texas.
Western New Mexico is leading the
team competition with a combined 311. Seventeen strokes
off the pace and in second is Central Oklahoma with a
328. The host team West Texas A&M rounds out the third
spot carding a combined 332.
Tina Bickford of Western New Mexico
is the leader after round one shooting a three over par
75. Teammate Katharine Dorris and Central Oklahoma’s
Emily Kirk are tied for second with a 76. Halley
Montalban (So., Billings, MT) leads the Yellowjackets
shooting a round one total 86 tying her for twenty-first
place.
Following this tournament, the Lady
Jackets will travel to Chico, California April 10-11 to
compete at the Cal-State Chico Invitational as a final
tune-up to the Heartland Conference Championships held
April16-18.
