Montalban Notches Top 10 Finish (10/18/05)
GRAND JUNCTION, CO – Montana
State-Billings golfer Halley Montalban shot a second round
81 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for ninth at the Maverick
Quality Inn Classic. The sophomore from Billings climbed
from seventeenth place in the first round for her first
top 10 finish of the season.
Grand Canyon ran away with the team
title with a 72-over par total of 640 after rounds of 318
and 322. MSU Billings placed fifth in the nine team
tournament with a 148-over 716. The Yellowjackets posted
rounds of 362 and 354.
Grand Canyon’s Jessica McKay won top
individual honors with an 8-over 150. She carded rounds
of 74 and 76 on the par-71 course. Over the 96 individual
rounds played at the tournament, there were only eight
rounds posted below 80.
The Yellowjackets’ Emily Maag (So.,
Billings, MT) placed 20th with a 33-over 175.
She shot rounds of 87 and 88. Amanda Rabenberg (Sr.,
Livingston, MT) finished in a tie for 24th with
a 39-over 181 after rounds of 91 and 90.
The Yellowjackets finish the fall
portion of their schedule at the Otter Classic on October
24 and 25. The tournament is hosted by Cal State-Monterey
Bay and is played in Seaside, CA. The spring season for
MSU Billings begins March 3-4 when the Lady Jackets play
at the Rattler Classic hosted by St. Mary’s University in
San Antonio.
