Lady Golfers Fifth at HLC Tourney (4/18/06)
GUYMON, OK – The Montana
State-Billings women’s golf team stands in fifth place
in a field of seven following the first 18 holes played
at the par-70 Sunset Hills Golf Course in Guymon,
Oklahoma. The Lady Jackets traveled to Oklahoma to play
at the Heartland Conference Tournament April 17 and 18.
Leading the team competition is St.
Edward’s University with a first round total 312. Five
strokes off the pace and at 317 is St. Mary’s
University. MSU Billings shot a combined 360 for the
five-stoke lead over the host team Oklahoma Panhandle
State. The Lady Jackets have shot an average 367 per 18
holes this season, making them seven strokes under their
team average for the tournament thus far.
Allison Kinser from St. Edward’s
University has a one-stroke lead over five golfers tied
for second giving her the individual lead with a first
round total 76 (+6). In the five way tie for second is
Emily Kvinta, Kim Cammer, Meagan Crowe, Elizabeth Reid,
and Jessica Groff all with a seven-over 77. The
Jackets’ Emily Maag (So., Billings, MT) shot 41 on the front
nine and 43 on the back nine to card a first round 84
(+14), tying her for seventeenth.
The tournament will wrap up
Tuesday, April 18th with a final 18-hole
round marking the end of the competitive season for the
Lady Jackets.
