Lady Jackets Gain Ground in Final Round (10/25/05)
SEASIDE, CA – The Montana
State-Billings women’s golf team shaved 14 strokes off its
team score Tuesday to finish fifteenth at the Golf
Mart/Lady Otter Invitational. The tournament was hosted
by Cal State-Monterey Bay.
Halley Montalban (So., Billings, MT)
shot a 9-over 82 Tuesday at the par-73 Black Horse Golf
Course. She climbed 20 places from her first round
position to finish in a tie for 37th. Nicole
Salsbery (So., Malta, MT) moved up 16 places after her
second round 88 to finish in a tie for 72nd.
Western Washington, ranked ninth in
the nation, pulled away from San Diego State for the team
title. The Vikings’ two-round total of 634 was 21 strokes
better than SDSU’s. Western’s Katja Trygg shot a 75
Tuesday, the lowest round of the tournament, to win top
medalist honors with a two-day total of 154.
The Lady Otter Invitational was the
final tournament of the fall for MSU Billings. The Lady
Jackets begin the spring season at the Lady Rattler
Invitational in San Antonio on March 3-4.
