Jackets Fall to Thunderwolves in OT (10/9/05)

BILLINGS, MT - The Montana
State University-Billings men’s soccer team finished their home
season Saturday against Colorado State-Pueblo falling to the
Thunderwolves, 2-1 in overtime. The loss drops the Jackets to
4-11-0 with the Thunderwolves improving to 6-6-1.
Luke Babson got the
Thunderwolves off to a 1-0 lead at 23:57.
Ryan Creager passed a through ball to Babson who fired a shot
from 10 yards out amidst a number of defenders. The Jackets
evened the score when they were granted a foul kick from 13
yards outside the goal. Travis Poulson (Jr., F, Walla Walla, WA) touched the indirect
kick to Greg
McKeever (So., D, Kirkland, WA) who drilled the ball into
the upper left side of the net.
A scoreless second half sent
the two teams into overtime with the Jackets hoping to finish
the home season with a win. With just 2:40 remaining on the
clock in the first OT, the Thunderwolves' Adam Hart took the give and go
from Mark Thimm to score the golden goal for the win.
This game represented senior
day for the Jackets who will graduate seven seniors. Those
seniors include, Bekir
Undes (MF, Goppingen, Germany), Yacine Zerizef (GK, Casper, WY), Marcus Riley (MF, Kalispell, MT), Jesse
Spann (D, Rock Spring, WY), Patrick Boltz (D, Kaneohe, HI), Dustin
Kono (F, Aberdeen, SD), and Jess
Feldtman (GK, Lander, WY).
The Yellowjackets head to
Phoenix, Arizona Thursday to wrap up their season on the road
where they will play three games. On Friday, October 14th the Jackets play Embry-Riddle at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 15th the Jackets will play a neutral game against Humboldt under the
lights with a kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The final game
for the Yellowjackets will be against Grand Canyon University Monday, October 17th that will start at 7:30 p.m. |
