Yellowjacket Soccer Downed, 1-0 (10/8/05)
Box Score
BILLINGS, MT - Despite playing
a strong game defensively, the Jackets were unable to capitalize
falling 1-0 against Regis University Saturday at College of
Technology Field. The loss drops the Jackets to 4-10-0 on the
season and improves the Rangers to 3-5-2.
The Rangers had 11 shots to
the Jackets' one during the first half of play yet the two teams
were scoreless at the buzzer. The second half showed a more
evenly matched game with five shots apiece, however, the Rangers
managed to get the ball past Jackets goalkeeper Jess Feldtman (Sr., Lander, WY) at 73:30. The Rangers Matt Westerlund
made a short cross in front of the goal to teammate Cody Berg.
Berg headed the ball just above Feldtman's reach giving Berg his fourth
goal of the season.
The Yellowjackets had three shots on goal,
all coming in the second half. Marcus Riley (Sr., MF, Kalispell, MT), Nick
Slanina (Fr., F, Rapid City, SD), and team points leader Dustin
Kono (Sr., F, Aberdeen, SD) each had a shot on goal.
“I am disappointed with the
game,” said head coach Dan McNally. “We played hard, and
were well organized defensively. The team lacks belief
that they can win when we play against a good team. It is
important that we win tomorrow against Colorado State-Pueblo so
that we can have a winning home record."
The Jackets play again Sunday
at College of Technology Field when they host
Colorado State-Pueblo. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
The game will be the final home contest for seniors Jess
Feldtman, Yacine Zerizef, Pat Boltz, Jesse Spann, Bekir Undes,
Marcus Riley, and Dustin Kono. |
