SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Montana
State-Billings men’s soccer team was shutout for the third
time in the last four games Tuesday, falling to St. Mary’s
University 2-0. The loss was the fourth straight for the
Yellowjackets who fall to 2-9-0 on the season. St. Mary’s
improved to 4-3-0. For the third
straight game on the trip the temperature at game time was
well over 100 degrees.
“I felt we dominated a lot of the game,”
said Yellowjacket coach Dan McNally. “We just could not
capitalize on our opportunities and we paid
for it in the end. St. Mary’s scored both of
their goals in the final 10 minutes. We’re ready to get back
to Billings and play at home. It's
been a long five days in Texas.”
The Yellowjackets play their next four
games at home starting Saturday when they host Colorado
Christian. Kick off for that game is set for 1:00 p.m. at the
MSU Billings College of Technology.
The Rattlers had a 10-5 advantage on
overall shots Tuesday and a 7-1 edge on shots on goal.
Yellowjacket goalkeeper Jess Feldtman (Sr., Lander, WY) made five saves. The game
was scoreless until nearly the 80th minute when the
Rattlers’ Juan Carlos Sanchez found the net at 79:09. STMU
added an insurance goal from Scott Kilpatrick with just over
two minutes remaining.
Dustin Kono (Sr., Aberdeen, SD) led the Yellowjackets with
two shots. Jeff
Davis (Fr., Cheney, WA) had the team’s only shot on goal. |
