Yellowjacket Men Drop Third Straight (9/2/05)
SALT LAKE CITY, UT – The Montana
State-Billings men’s soccer team dropped its third game of the
season on Friday, losing to Cal State-Monterey Bay, 3-2 in
double overtime, at the Westminster College tournament. The
Yellowjackets fell to 0-3-0 while the Otters improved to
1-0-0. The Yellowjackets face Colorado-Colorado Springs at
noon on Saturday. They will wrap up the tournament on Sunday
against host Westminster at 2:00 p.m.
MSU Billings jumped to a 1-0 lead on an
unassisted goal by Dustin Kono (Sr., Aberdeen, SD) in the thirteenth minute.
The Yellowjackets took the 1-0 lead into halftime. The Otters
tied the game with a goal in the 58th minute and
took a 2-1 advantage with another goal in the 60th minute. MSU Billings was able to tie the game in the 68th minute to force overtime. Kono scored his second goal of the
game. He was assisted by Josh Hernandez (So., Palmdale, CA). CSU-Monterey Bay
scored the game winner with four minutes remaining in the
second overtime.
