Jackets Return Home to Host Cougars (9/29/05)
BILLINGS, MT - After spending
a week in hurricane country, the Montana State-Billings men’s
soccer team is back for a four-game home stand. The
Yellowjackets will host Colorado Christian Saturday, October 1
at College of Technology field. The game will start at 12 p.m.
The Cougars are currently
1-6-0 on their season with their only win coming against William
Jessup University. The cougars have been outscored 6-24 by
their opponents in their previous seven games. This game will
be the fifth meeting between the two teams with the
Yellowjackets holding a 2-1 edge over the Cougars (1996 stats
are unavailable). The last time the teams met was in 2003, with
the Jackets winning 6-1.
Currently 2-9-0, the
Yellowjackets will be looking for their first home win on the
season. Leading the Jackets is senior Dustin
Kono (F., Aberdeen, SD) with six goals and 13 points on the
season. Kono broke the school record two weeks ago by scoring
at least one goal in consecutive games with five. Freshman Nick
Slanina (F., Rapid City, SD) follows Kono with three goals
and six points. Teammate Jesse
Spann (Sr., D, Rock Springs, WY) is third with five points
and two goals.
The Jackets will host Colorado
Christian, Heartland conference opponent Dallas Baptist, Regis
and Colorado-Pueblo before heading to Phoenix, Arizona for the
team’s final three games of the season. |
