Jacket Golfers Play Spring Invite (2/27/06)

AUSTIN, TX –   The Montana State-Billings men’s golf team kicked off their spring season at the St. Edward’s University Spring Invitational Monday and Tuesday.  The Yellowjackets played 54 holes at the Circle C course in Austin.  The course is a 6,859 yard, par-72. 

Northeastern State University shot to a first place finish with rounds of 306, 299, and 296 for a combined 901.  Central Oklahoma finished second with 910 (304, 305, 301).  Cameron University rounded out the top three shooting 304, 309, and 301 for 914.  Montana State-Billings shot rounds of 339, 344 and 331 for a combined 1,014, good enough for thirteenth place.

The 2005 super-regional qualifier, Nick Larson (So., Riverton, WY) was the top finisher for the Jackets in 50^th place.  Larson shot a first round 9-over par and a 86 and 87 in the following two rounds for a 244.
