Larson Qualifies for Super Regional (4/24/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings golfer Nicholas Larson has been invited to compete at the
NCAA Division II South/South Central Super Regional
tournament for the second year in a row. The regional
competition is scheduled for May 1-3 in Duncan,
Oklahoma. Cameron University will serve as the host and
all rounds of golf will be played at The Territory Golf
Club. Three 18-hole rounds will be played, Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday with a practice round on the
Sunday preceding competition.
In competition this season Larson
has steadily worked for a spot at the super regional
starting out with a 50th place finish at the
St. Edward’s Spring Invitation held February 27-28.
Larson saw his best finish of the year at the
Kickingbird Classic where he finished in a tie for
fourth in a field of 82 shooting a two-under for the
tournament. Under wet and windy conditions at the
Colorado School of Mines/Regis University Invite in
Colorado, Larson finished a respectable 17th place carding rounds of 82, and 76 on the par-72
course. At the Buzzini/Stanislaus Invitation April 9-11
in Turlock, California, Larson again broke the top ten
placing eighth carding a 73.6 average per round for the
invite. Larson rounded out his season at the 2006
Heartland Conference Championships shooting a six-over
216 for the tournament landing him in seventh place and
a berth to the super regional.
