DUNCAN, OK – Montana State-Billings
golfer Nick Larson dropped from 20th to 27th place Tuesday at the NCAA South Central Regional at the
Territory Golf Club. After shooting an opening round 75
on Monday, Larson carded a 76 on Tuesday at the
7,077-yard, par-72 course. His two-round total of 151
ties him for 27th place at 7-over par. The
54-hole tournament concludes on Wednesday.
Tuesday’s second round was delayed
twice because of lightning. The second delay, which
occurred in the middle of Larson’s round, lasted about
three hours. Larson started the day on the back nine
and made the turn with a 1-over 37. He was 1-under
through the first seven holes, but bogeyed 17 and 18.
After the long delay, Larson
started his second nine with a bogey on No. 1 to slip to
2-over for the day. After pars on the second and third
holes, he bogeyed Nos. 4 and 5 to fall to four-over.
Larson rebounded from the back-to-back bogeys to par the
final four holes.
Mitch Boles (Central Oklahoma),
Travis Lovins (Cameron) and Brad Risenhoover
(Northeastern State) are in a battle for the regional
individual title. Central Oklahoma leads the team
standings. The winner of the regional tournament and
the top individual not on the winning team within the
super regional will advance to the NCAA Division II
National Championships May 15-19, in Daniels, W.Va.
Three additional teams with the next lowest scores in
the combined Super Regional field will also receive
at-large berths to the national tournament.
