Jacket Golfers Complete Day One (4/2/06)
DENVER, CO- The Montana
State-Billings men’s golf team stands fifth out of a
seven-team field following 18-holes of play at the
Colorado School of Mines/Regis University Invitational.
The Jackets will play the final 18-holes on the par 72
course Monday in Denver, Colorado.
Regis University and Colorado
School of Mines stand one, two in the team standings
with Regis holding a seven-stroke advantage over School
of Mines. Regis shot a team combined 314 while School
of Mines carded a 321. Just four strokes back and
holding onto third place by a mere two strokes is
Colorado-Colorado Springs with a 325. The Yellowjackets
shot a combined 340.
Bobby Arranga from Regis University
sits atop the leader board shooting a 38 on both the
front and back nine for a four-over par 76. There are
only two-strokes separating second and seventh place
with Alex Kephart from Colorado-Springs holding onto
second (77) with the slimmest of margins over Joe
Ronevich of School of Mines who carded a 78. The
Jackets’ Nicholas Larson (So., Riverton, WY) and Zach
Abels (So., Twin Falls, ID) are in a six-way tie for
eleventh with an 82.
Following this invitational, the
Jackets head for Turlock, California April 9-11 to
compete in the George Buzzini Invitational hosted by CSU-Stanislaus.
