NAMPA, ID - The Montana
State-Billings baseball team was swept in the second day of play
by Northwest Nazarene University. The Jackets dropped both
non-conference games 7-3 and 6-0. The Crusaders improved to 6-6
on the season while the Yellowjackets dropped to 0-4 overall.
Tallying three runs in game
one was a contribution by three different Yellowjacket players. Mike
Wardell (So., Billings, MT) was 2-for-4 with one run. Luke Sansaver (Jr., Wolf Point, MT) hit a double and was
2-for-5 with one run. Nick Hoskyn (Jr., Oelwein, IA) was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Willie
Crtalic (Jr., Billings, MT) stole one base for the Jackets. Nathan
Herbig (Jr., Noxon, MT) pitched 6.1 innings and took the
loss giving up seven runs on five hits.
Game two saw the Jackets
shut-out as the Crusaders powered themselves to the 6-0 win. Kyle Pryor (Jr., Billings, MT), and Doug
Longfellow (Jr., Lewistown, MT) each went 1-for-2. David
Ducharme (Sr., Hamilton, MT) pitched 5 innings giving up
three runs on five hits. Ducharme struck out five batters.
The Yellowjackets will make a
swing through Texas playing their first Heartland Conference
games March 2 at St. Mary’s (TX). During the long span, the
Jackets will also play against University of the Incarnate Word
and St. Edward’s. The Yellowjackets will host Northwest
Nazarene University in their home opener scheduled for March
17. First pitch is set for 12 noon. |
