Yellowjacket Baseball Opener Cancelled (2/16/06)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State-Billings
baseball team will have to wait one more week to kick off its
first season in 31 years. The Yellowjackets were scheduled to
play four games in Denver on Saturday and Sunday, but the games
have been cancelled because of snow and cold weather.
MSU Billings was scheduled to play its first
intercollegiate baseball game since 1975 on Saturday against
Colorado Christian. That double-header, along with Sunday’s
double-dip against Nebraska-Kearney, fell victim to the snow and
cold hitting the Rocky Mountains.
The games against Colorado Christian are
tentatively scheduled to me made up on March 21 in Billings. The
Yellowjackets’ home opener will be March 17 when they host
Northwest Nazarene University at Cobb Field.
With the weekend’s cancellations, the
Yellowjackets will now open their 2006 campaign on February 24
with the first two of four games at Northwest Nazarene in Nampa,
ID. The Jackets then travel south for a 12-day, 12-game swing to
Texas between March 2 and 13. |
