McBride Pitches to Third Heartland Honor (4/26/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings baseball player Kyle McBride was tabbed Heartland
Conference Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 24. The
honor is a noteworthy third in four weeks for McBride and the
sixth overall for the Yellowjacket Baseball program this season.
Kyle
McBride, a junior right-handed pitcher from Billings,
Montana has steadily improved over the season lowering his
earned run average from a 10.80 to a 4.62. McBride’s solid
pitching has earned him four straight victories and eight
decisions in eight appearances. His last four games have been
complete 7.0 inning games. In last Friday’s 3-1 win over
Heartland Conference opponent Oklahoma Panhandle, McBride
allowed just one run off two hits with no extra bases, and
struck out a career-high 11 batters. McBride is also the only
Yellowjacket pitcher pitching .500 for the season at 4-4.
The Yellowjackets are winding
down their season and will host St. Mary’s University in a
Heartland Conference doubleheader at Cobb Field on Friday, April
28. First pitch is 3:00 p.m. The Jackets (13-29 overall, 11-21
HLC) and Rattlers (30-15, 22-10) will meet in again on Saturday
with that game also starting at 3:00. MSU Billings has just two
weekend series left in its inaugural season of the program’s
modern era. The Yellowjackets host league-leader Incarnate Word
on May 5-6. |
