Baseball’s McBride Earns Heartland Honor (4/18/06)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State
University-Billings baseball player Kyle McBride has been chosen
as the Heartland Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week
of April 17. This marks McBride’s second honor and the fifth
overall for the Montana State-Billings Baseball program this
season.
Kyle
McBride, a junior right-handed pitcher from Billings,
Montana earned the Yellowjackets only win in six games last
week. The win came in fine fashion as McBride pitched his third
straight shut out in a row and his second against the Blue
Tigers in a 12-0 win last week. In the win against Heartland
Conference opponent Lincoln, McBride allowed just four hits with
no extra bases and struck out four. Two of the 21 outs in last
week’s victory were grounded double plays. On the season,
McBride has posted an earned run average of 5.18 in 41.2 innings
of work, striking out a total 27 batters to date.
The Yellowjackets have 12 home
games remaining in the season, all of which will be played
against Heartland Conference opponents. In the lineup, the
Jackets will host Oklahoma Panhandle State April 21 and 22 at
Cobb Field. The Aggies are 4-38 overall and just 3-25 against
Heartland Conference opponents. The first game on Friday is
scheduled for 12 noon while Saturday’s first game will start at
