Runners Earn Academic Honors (Mar. 16, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – The
Montana State-Billings men’s and women’s
cross-country team were recently named to the United
States Cross-Country Coaches Association
All-Academic Team.
The Lady
Yellowjacket team had the fourth-highest team
cumulative grade point average in the nation at
3.71. The men’s team was eleventh nationally with a
team cumulative GPA of 3.41. To qualify for the
rankings, teams must have at least a 3.00 cumulative
GPA counting all eligible student-athletes who
competed in at least 50 percent of the team’s
competitions.
Two Yellowjacket
runners were also named USTCA All-Academic
Athletes. Heidi Robertson and Sarah Lord earned individual distinction after
placing 25th and 26th respectively at the NCAA Division II West Regional.
Robertson, an education major from Great Falls, MT,
had a 3.92 GPA. Lord, an education major from
Billings, had a 4.00 GPA. To earn individual
honors, a student-athlete had to have at least a
3.25 cumulative GPA and place in the top 30 percent
at the regional.
