Minnesota Harrier Signs with Jackets (May 24, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana
State-Billings cross-country coach Dave Coppock
announced Wednesday that Cierra Dornfeld of
Woodbury, Minn., has signed a national letter of
intent to run for the Yellowjackets. She will
graduate in June from Stillwater Area High School in
Oak Park Heights, MN. Dornfeld was born in Bozeman,
Mont., and her father grew up in Billings. Her
uncle, Drake Dornfeld, ran for the University of
Montana in the 1970s.
At Stillwater Area HS, Dornfeld
lettered four years in cross-country, two years in
track, and one year in Nordic skiing. As a senior
she ran a 15:51 the 2.5 mile Suburban East
Conference meet and earned honorable mention
all-conference honors. She finished the same race
in 15:42 as a junior.
“I think Cierra will be a great
fit for our cross country program,” said Coppock.
“She comes from a very strong high school team in
the Twin Cities area and her greatest strengths will
probably be on the more hilly and difficult
courses. She also has a Nordic skiing background
which translates over pretty well to cross country
running. She’s very active, positive, has a very
good grade point, and will be a great addition to
our women’s team." |
