Lady Jacket Soccer Plays Tune Up Match at Montana (Aug. 18, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – After two weeks of practice,
the Montana State-Billings women’s soccer team will face its first
outside competition of the year on Sunday when the Yellowjackets
play an exhibition game at the University of Montana. Kickoff is
set for 1:00 p.m. in Missoula. The game will count as an
exhibition contest for both the Division I Grizzlies and the
Division II Yellowjackets.
The Yellowjackets were 6-9-1 last year in
coach Don Trentham’s second season, improving on a 2-14 record the
year before. Montana was 8-11-2 last year and is picked to finish
third in the Big Sky Conference this season.
MSU Billings opens the 2004 regular season
the following week when it plays at the St. Cloud State tournament
in St. Cloud, Minn. The Yellowjackets will face Bemidji State on
Friday, August 27, and then play host St. Cloud State on Sunday,
August 29.
The Yellowjackets’ 2004 home schedule will
begin with the third annual MSU Billings Cup Sponsored by Thrifty
Car Rental on Labor Day weekend. MSU Billings will host North
Dakota and Mesa State. The Jackets take on UND on Saturday,
September 4, and Mesa State on Monday, September 6. North Dakota
and Mesa State will meet on Sunday.
MSU Billings plays a record ten home games in
2004. Along with North Dakota and Mesa State, the Yellowjackets
will play host this season to Savannah College of Art and Design,
Rocky Mountain College, Central Washington University, University
of Minnesota-Crookston, Northern State University, Jamestown
College, Grand Canyon University and Carroll College. |
