Lady Jacket Soccer Signs Washington Forward (May 5, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings women’s
soccer coach Don Trentham announced this week that Chelsea Libby
of Puyallup, Wash., has signed a national letter of intent to play
for the Yellowjackets next fall. Libby will graduate this spring
from Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup.
“Chelsea was overlooked by many schools
because she has had two knee operations,” said Trentham. “We
decided to take a chance on her due to the fact that she is a
quality player who puts pressure on opposing defenses. She has
worked very hard in her rehab to prepare for the college game.”
The 5-foot-7 forward was a two year letter
winner at Emerald Ridge HS. In 2002 she earned honorable mention
all-league honors and tied the school record for goals in a
season. In 2004 Emerald Ridge placed third in the division and
qualified for the state tournament.
Trentham has now signed 11 recruits for next
fall. The Yellowjackets were 12-4-3 last season and finished
ranked tenth in the Far West Region. They will move to the Midwest Region and the Heartland Conference next year. |
