Lady Jackets Struggle to Fourteenth on Day One of Rattler Classic

Boerne, TX - The Montana State University-Billings women’s golf team stands in fourteenth place after 18 holes of play in the team competition at the 4^th annual Lady Rattler Hill Country Classic.  After taking advantage of the spring like weather and practicing outdoors, the Lady Jackets women’s golf team played day one of the Rattler Classic hosted by St. Mary’s University in wet, cold conditions that didn’t suit them well.

“It was really cold and the course was wet, something we weren’t used to,” said head coach Roger Bruckley.  “We will certainly be looking to improve on tomorrow’s 18 holes of play.”

Texas Christian University leads the team competition shooting a 319.  Tarleton State is just two strokes back in second with 321.  Cal State-Chico and host team Lady Rattlers are battling for third with CSU-Chico ahead by one at 328.  Defending Heartland Conference Champions St. Mary’s is fourth with 329.  The Yellowjackets are currently fourteenth of sixteen teams shooting a 388.

Carrie Morris of TCU leads the individual competition with a two over par 74.  Two strokes back is Meredith Easley of West Texas A&M shooting 76.  The Lady Jackets are led by Halley Montalban (Fr., Billings, MT) who is tied for 39^th at a sixteen over par 88.  Teammate Nicole Salsbery (Fr. Malta, MT) shot a 93 and is tied in 65^th place.
