Lady Golfers Head to Arizona (Mar.

BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State
University-Billings women’s golf team is set to compete
in the Women’s Spring Tournament hosted by Grand Canyon
University March 28-29 in Phoenix. This 36-hole
tournament will be played at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
The first 18-holes have a tee-time of 11 a.m. on March
28. The remaining 18-holes will be played March 29 with
the first tee set for 7 a.m.
Last year Lady Jacket Julie
Clifford (Jr., Forsyth, MT) competed in the Grand Canyon
Invitational and scored the low round for the team
shooting an 83. Teammate Halley Montalban (Fr.,
Billings, MT) led the Jackets at the Rattler Classic
earlier this month with rounds of 88 and 82 for a 170.
The Grand Canyon Invitational will
feature nineteen teams. Joining the Yellowjackets and
host team Lopes include Cal State-San Marcos, Chadron,
Drury, Mesa State, Northeastern State, Notre Dame De
Namur, St. Edward’s, St. Martin’s, St. Mary’s,
Tarlington State, Texas A&M-Commerce, U. of BC, U. of
Central Oklahoma, U. of Nebraska-Kearney, West Texas
A&M, Western New Mexico and Western Washington.
“I am excited for the women to take
part in this tournament,” said head coach Roger Bruckley.
“We will have the opportunity, once again to compete
against schools that will be in our new Heartland
Conference next year.”
Three schools that will take part
in the Grand Canyon Invite finished in the top four at
the last tournament the Jackets played in. The
Yellowjackets finished thirteenth in that tournament. |
