Lady Jacket Golfers Finish Regular Season (Apr. 12, 2005)

GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The Montana State-Billings women’s golf team wrapped up its regular season schedule on Tuesday at the Maverick Invitational hosted by Mesa State.  The Yellowjackets trimmed eight strokes off their first round score but still finished in last place at the five team tourney.  A couple teams missed the tournament because of the inclement weather in Colorado last week.

Grand Canyon coasted to the team title with a 64-over two round total of 632.  Mesa State finished second at 669.  Grand Canyon’s Jessica McKay led wire-to-wire, finishing with an 8-over 150.  Her first round 74 was the lowest round of the tournament.  The Jackets were led by Halley Mantalban’s thirteenth place finish.  She shot rounds of 87 and 86 for a 31-over 173.

MSU Billings next plays at the Pacific West Conference Championships in Hilo, HI, on April 21-23.  Both the men’s and women’s teams will compete in the three day event at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course.
