Lady Jackets Ranked in Several Categories by NCAA (Feb. 8, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State-Billings
women’s basketball team is ranked in top 45 in seven team
statistical categories in this week’s NCAA Division II statistical
rankings. The Lady Jackets, 15-5 and ranked ninth in the West
Region, host unbeaten North Dakota State at 6:00 p.m. on
Saturday. The new regional rankings will be released Wednesday
afternoon. MSU Billings knocked off fifth-ranked St. Martin’s on
the road last week.
The NCAA ranks the top 50 teams in nine
statistical categories. The Yellowjackets are in the top 45 in
seven of those categories. They are 14th for field
goal percentage defense (34.7), 29th for field goal
percentage (44.5), 33rd for scoring margin (+12.4), 33rd for rebound margin (+6.3), 37th for free throw
percentage (73.7), 42nd for 3-pointers per game (6.3),
and 45th for scoring defense (58.4).
Individually, senior Robyn Milne (Richey, MT) is eighth in the nation for blocked
shots per game at 3.6. She climbed to 21st for career
blocked shots in NCAA Division II history last week with a total
of 245. She is seven blocks from breaking into the top 20 all
time.
Milne is also ranked 31st nationally for rebounds per game at 9.9. Shannon Harvey (Billings, MT) continues to have a solid
sophomore campaign, ranking 31st in the country for
3-point field goal percentage at 39.3 percent.
Following Saturday’s game against the Bison,
the Yellowjackets wrap up their home schedule on February 18 and
19 against Grand Canyon. |
