Lady Jacket Defense among Top in Nation (Jan. 18, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – In this week’s NCAA national
statistical rankings, the Montana State-Billings women’s
basketball team is ranked as the tenth best for field goal
percentage defense. Opposing teams are only shooting 33.8 percent
from the field against the Yellowjackets.
The Jackets’ stingy defense is also ranked 18th for scoring defense, holding opponents to just 55.1 points per
game. That has translated into an 11-3 record going into this
week’s three critical West Region games. MSU Billings hosts
Western New Mexico at 6:00 on Tuesday and 7:00 on Wednesday before
traveling to Central Washington on Saturday.
The Yellowjackets are ranked in six team
statistical categories overall. They are also 19th for
scoring margin (+15.9), 23rd for field goal percentage
(45.3), 31st for free throw percentage (74.4), and 17th for rebounding margin (+9.0).
Senior center Robyn Milne (Richey, MT) is
again ranked nationally in three categories. She held on to the
ninth place for blocked shots per game (3.4). She is also 13th for rebounds per game (10.9) and 18th for field goal
percentage (57.4). Sophomore guard Shannon Harvey (Billings, MT)
is 34th in the country for 3-point field goal
percentage at 40.3. |
