Lady Jackets’ Robyn Milne Named to All-Tourney Team (Dec. 12, 2004)
ARCATA,
CA – Montana State-Billings senior Robyn Milne was named to the
North Coast Inn Classic All-Tournament Team after leading the
Yellowjackets to a 1-1 record at the tournament over the weekend.
MSU Billings lost, 77-65, to Chico State on Friday before beating
Southern Oregon, 81-58. The tournament was hosted by Humboldt
State University.
Milne, a 6-foot-3 center
from Richey, Mont., posted two double-doubles in the two
games, averaging 17 points and 15.5 rebounds a game. She scored
24 points with 19 boards in the win over Southern Oregon. She
also blocked ten shots in the two games, with six against SOU and
four against Chico State.
With her 34 points in Arcata, Milne became
the 21st player in school history to eclipse 800 career
points. She moved up to No. 20 in the career record book for
points scored with 828. The previous week Milne became just the
sixth Lady Yellowjacket with over 700 career rebounds. She now
has 738, fifth in school history.
For the season, Milne is averaging a
team-best 17.6 points and 10.1 rebounds a game. She is shooting
an impressive 63.5 percent from the field and 82.9 percent from
the free throw line. Milne will also likely be among the national
leaders for blocked shots again when the statistical rankings
begin in January. She has 22 blocks in seven games for a 3.14 bpg
average.
Chico State’s Kim Abts was named the
tournament’s Most Valuable Player. She scored 25 in the win
against the Yellowjackets. Three of the five all-tournament team
members were from Chico State, which was 2-0 for the weekend.
