Yellowjackets Begin Search for
Women's Basketball Coach (July 6, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings Athletics
Director Dr. Gary Gray began the search for a new
head women's basketball coach on Tuesday.
Former head coach Melissa Slone resigned late Friday
evening. She spent one year at MSU Billings.
The
Yellowjackets are an NCAA Division II independent
that competes in the West Region. They were
16-11 last season and finished the season ranked
tenth in the region. MSU Billings has
qualified for the NCAA Tournament eight times since
1994 and three times in the last five seasons.
The search
for a new coach will have a national scope and begin
immediately. The position will be listed in
the NCAA News as well as numerous local and
regional media outlets. As of Tuesday,
numerous applications had already been submitted.
