Lady Yellowjackets Look Good in Blue-Gold Scrimmage (Nov. 13, 2004)

BILLINGS, MT – With a match up against one of
their biggest rivals just a week away, the MSU Billings women’s
basketball team exhibited an efficient balance in the Lady
Jackets’ annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage on Saturday. The Blue team
prevailed 70-64 in the mixed squad game.
The Lady Jackets used a balanced
inside/outside offensive attack to shoot 44 percent from the field
and 47 percent from 3-point range. Junior guard Kayla Frize (Miles City, MT) looked strong in her first action
in nearly a year. After missing the past two seasons because of a
knee injury, Frize scored 20 points Saturday night, connecting on
all five of her 3-point attempts.
Transfer forward Michelle Lieber (So., Gillette, WY) also netted 20 points in
the game, shooting 10-of-12 from the field. She finished with a
double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds. Senior center Robyn Milne (Richey, MT) also notched a double-double with 19
points and 12 boards. She added four blocked shots.
Junior guard Jenny Langford (Reedpoint, MT) joined Frize with a solid night
from behind the arc. Langford connected on 5-of-10 from 3-point
range, finishing with 15 points and four assists. Langford enters
the season ranked ninth in school history for career 3-pointers.
In all, eight players scored in double
figures. Jennifer Skrifvars (So., Brea, CA) scored 10 points; Tanya Petersen (Jr., Billings, MT) finished with 14 points; Sami Walking Bear (Jr., Billings, MT) added 10 points; and Shannon Harvey (So., Billings, MT) netted 12 points.
The Yellowjackets tip off the 2004-2005
regular season next Saturday at home against West Region foe
Western Washington. The game starts at 6:00 p.m. at Alterowitz
Gymnasium.
