Jackets’ Rainey Named PWC Player of the
Week (Apr. 12, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – The
Montana State-Billings senior Cami
Rainey was named the Pacific West Conference softball
player of the week on Monday. The shortstop from
Terreton, ID, led the Yellowjackets to a 5-1 conference
mark last
week, including a pair of upsets of first place
Hawaii-Hilo. MSU Billings split with the Vulcans on
Monday to win three of four games in the season series.
The Yellowjackets’ leadoff hitter
batted .571 for the week, scoring 10 runs and driving in
four RBI. She had a .905 slugging percentage with five
extra base hits—four doubles and a home run.
For the season, Rainey ranks second
in the PacWest with a .417 batting average and sixth with
a .629 slugging percentage. Her 36 runs scored are second
in the league, and she leads the PWC for total hits with
55. She has already set school single season records for
runs scored, total hits, doubles, and total bases.
The Yellowjackets host Albertson College
on Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader. The first
game starts at 3:00 p.m. at Cenex Stadium. |
