MSUB Softball Signs Missoula Standout (May 23, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings
softball coach Jeff Aumend announced Monday that Ashley
Powell of Missoula, Mont., has signed a national letter of
intent to play for the Yellowjackets. Powell will
graduate in June from Missoula Big Sky High School.
Powell is a 5-foot-6 infielder who
has played shortstop, third base and designated hitter
during her career at Missoula Big Sky. A four year letter
winner, Powell received first team all-conference and
first team all-state honors last year as a junior third
baseman.
“MSU Billings is the perfect school
for what I am looking for,” said Powell. “I get a chance
to play a sport I love at a collegiate level. Also, I am
glad to be involved in small class sizes. All around, a
school this close to home is perfect for me.”
Powell is currently completing her
senior season for Big Sky HS. The 14-5 Eagles will take
on Billings Skyview HS in the opening round of this week’s
Class AA state tournament in Helena. |
