Yellowjacket Softball Team to Play Blue-Gold Double
Header Saturday (Oct. 1, 2004)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings softball team will play a Blue-Gold
double-header on Saturday, with two five-inning games
starting at 3:00 and 4:30 p.m. A scheduled triple-header
against Whitworth College for the same day has been
cancelled because Whitworth was unable to make the trip.
The Yellowjackets will wrap up their
fall season the following Saturday, October 9, with a
single seven-inning Blue-Gold game at 4:30 p.m. Both
games on October 2 and the game on October 9 will be
played at Cenex Stadium on the campus of MSU Billings.
The Yellowjacket pitchers will be
tested over the next two weekends against their own
offense that has been home run happy this fall.
MSU Billings hit 10 home runs in five games at a
tournament in Nebraska a couple weeks ago. The Jackets
jacked another seven homers in a four-game tournament at
Colorado State last weekend.
The PacWest leaders in home runs a
year ago, the Yellowjackets return all of their starters
from the 2004 squad that went 27-28. MSU Billings hit 32
home runs last year and several players have hit the long
ball this fall. Seniors Layne Pavey and Theresa Campbell
have combined for nine dingers. Freshman Jenna Haacke
from Billings Senior has homered four times already. Sara
Hanley, Cami Rainey, Christy Wankel and Jordan Waverek
have also gone deep this fall. |
