Offense Keeps Rolling in Yellowjacket Blue-Gold

BILLINGS, MT – The Montana
State-Billings softball team took a break from beating up
on opposing pitchers and faced each other in a pair of
five-inning Blue-Gold games on Saturday.
In the first game, Joey Ehnes (Sr.,
Great Falls, MT) tossed a four-hitter as the Blue won
5-1. Megan McCrae (Sr., Brandon, Manitoba) took the loss
after scattering six hits over five innings.
Aysha Blatter (So., Richland, WA) was
2-for-2 at the plate for the Blue team. She scored once
and drove in a run. Anna Henderson (Jr., Frenchtown, MT)
was 2-for-3 for the Gold.
The Gold won 9-4 in the evening
game. Jordan Waverek (Sr., Kalispell, MT) picked up the
win while allowing seven hits and striking out four.
Stephanie Cochrun (Sr., Lake Stevens, WA) took the loss,
allowing nine hits.
The Gold was led by Christy Wankel
(Jr., Great Falls, MT), who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and
a run scored. Henderson was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI
and a run scored. Freshman Jenna Haacke (Billings, MT)
homered in the bottom of the first to tie the game at
2-2. McCrae and Stephanie Rinehart (Fr., Fox Island, WA)
each went 1-for-2 with a double for the Blue team.
The Yellowjackets will wrap up the
fall season on October 9 with a full seven-inning
Blue-Gold scrimmage at Cenex Stadium. First pitch is
scheduled for 4:30 p.m. |
