Campbell Receives NFCA All-America Honors (May 19, 2005)
BILLINGS,
MT – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced
its 2005 softball All-America Teams on Wednesday. Montana
State-Billings senior Theresa Campbell was named to the
All-America Third Team.
Campbell was the only player from the
Pacific West Conference selected to any of the three
All-America teams. She batted .374 with 42 runs batted in
and 30 runs scored this year. Her school record 15 home
runs also tied the PacWest single season record. She led
the conference with a .772 slugging percentage.
Campbell is the first softball player from
MSU Billings to receive All-America recognition. A first
team all-conference and first team all-region selection
this year, Campbell helped lead the Yellowjackets to their
first ever NCAA Tournament appearance. MSU Billings lost
out in the NCAA West Regional semifinals to eventual
regional champion San Francisco State. SFSU’s Sonja
Garnett, the pitcher who shut out the Jackets in their
semifinal loss, was selected to the All-America First
Team. |
