Yellowjacket Golf Heads to Bakersfield (Feb. 24, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – To commence the
start of the spring season, the Montana State
University-Billings men’s golf team is set to compete in
Bakersfield, California February 28 through March 1. The
Cal State-Bakersfield Invitational will feature twelve
teams. Joining the Yellowjackets and the host
Roadrunners will be Cal State-Chico, Stanislaus, UC San
Diego, Dominguez Hills, San Bernardino, Sonoma State,
Monterey Bay, Grand Canyon, Western Washington and
Western New Mexico. The invitational will be held at
the 27-hole Seven Oaks Country Club golf course.
Yellowjacket team leaders include
Chris McConnell (Jr. Lewistown, MT) who leads the
Jackets with a 74.5 scoring average from the fall
season. Teammate Zach Abels (Fr., Twin Falls, ID) had a
fall scoring average of 75.3. Following close behind is
junior Chris Haas (Jr., Bozeman, MT) who will be looking
to put up low numbers. Haas had a 76.4 scoring average
in the fall.
After the men return from their
road trip, both the men and women Yellowjacket teams
will finish the second half of their Collegiate Cup duel
with Rocky Mountain College. Play is scheduled for
March 14 and 15 at the Jackets home course at Briarwood
Golf Course and Club. |
