Jacket Tennis Ends Tourney Falling to Gonzaga, 0-7 (Mar. 28, 2005)
BOISE, ID - After a loaded four
days of play in Boise, the Yellowjacket men’s tennis
team ended the tournament falling to Gonzaga 0-7. The
Jackets were finally able to enjoy warm weather and gain
experience playing outdoors in their final match up at
the Red Lion Invitational Saturday, March 26.
Paco Sanchez (So., Las Palmas,
Spain) came close to earning a team point against
Gonzaga’s Ernst in singles play. The match went three
sets where Sanchez eventually fell 2-6, 7-5, 7-6.
“Kellen Malone played with
confidence and teammate Sanchez played his best tennis
during the week and nearly pulled out a win in his
match,” said head coach Jerry Peach. “This tournament
was the best test for the men this year. The lessons
learned will help the team prepare for the conference
tournament in April.”
