Yellowjackets Outscored by Lumberjacks (Mar. 28, 2005)
BOISE, ID - The Yellowjacket men’s
tennis team played their third match of four Friday at
the Red Lion Invitational hosted by Boise State
University. The Jackets were up against Northern
Arizona from the Big Sky Conference and were downed 0-7
by the Lumberjacks.
Senior Kellen Malone (Sr.,
Billings, MT) lost a close match to Northern Arizona’s
Brian Grooms in singles play falling in a tie break 3-6,
6-4, 7-6. “This proved to be a tough test for the
team,” said head coach Jerry Peach. “The men played
their best match of the tournament and really hustled on
every point. Malone came within four points in the
third set tie-break of winning his match. This is the
best he has played this spring.”
The Jackets next match will be
against Gonzaga on Saturday, March 26, in Boise.
