Yellowjacket Men’s Soccer Evens Record with Win at Mary
BISMARCK, ND – A goal by senior Thomas
Pertuit with just six minutes remaining proved to be the
difference Saturday afternoon as the Montana State-Billings
men’s soccer team defeated University of Mary, 2-1. The
Yellowjackets improved to 4-4-0 for the season leading into
next week’s road swing to Seattle.
Pertuit’s team-leading seventh goal of
the year was also his second game-winner of the season. The
midfielder from Billings now has 19 career goals, tying him
for second in school history.
Marcus Riley (Jr., D, Kalispell, MT)
scored the Yellowjackets’ first goal of the game. Riley
entered the game having not taken a shot this year. With the
Yellowjackets shorthanded because of injuries, Riley made the
most of his first opportunity, giving the Yellowjackets a
chance to later win the game.
Complete game statistics were not
immediately available.
The Yellowjackets play three games in
Washington next week. The play at Seattle University of
September 25, at Western Washington on September 27 and at
Seattle Pacific on September 28. All three teams are ranked
in the top ten of the Far West Region. |
