BILLINGS, MT – Thomas Pertuit started off the
Montana State-Billings men’s soccer team with a penalty kick goal
that led to a 3-2 win over University of Colorado-Colorado Springs
Monday morning. The Yellowjackets improved to 3-3, breaking a two
game losing streak from the tournament last weekend at
Westminster.
Brian Palmer (Sr., F., Laramie, WY) led the Yellowjackets in
scoring with two goals on the day. Pertuit (Sr., MF, Billings,
MT) followed with one goal and one assist. The only goal of the
first half came at 33:51 off a penalty kick from Pertuit. The
second half of the game saw a lot more action with four goals
scored. Palmer’s first goal came at the 60th minute
when he blocked the goalkeeper’s kick to clear the ball. Palmer
scored again just 1:01 later with Pertuit picking up the assist.
The final two goals of the game came from Colorado Springs. Mark
Brehm picked up the goal from ten yards out on the right side for
the Mountain Lions’ first score at 61:58. Misha Thomas picked up
a loose ball in the box and scored at 78:12 for the Lions’ second
goal.
Peruit’s goal gives him six for the season and brings him to 18 on
his career, ranking him third in school history, one goal behind
Mark Cipolla. Goalkeeper Jess Feldtman (Jr., GK, Lander, WY) made
nine saves on the day to earn his third win of the season.
The Yellowjackets begin school this week and then hit the road
this weekend where they will take on Gonzaga in Spokane, WA on
Saturday, September 11 at 1:00 p.m. |
