Yellowjacket Soccer Takes on Far West Top Teams (Sept. 22,
2004)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State
University-Billings men’s soccer team takes on three of the
four top ranked West Region teams this week in Seattle. The
Yellowjackets face Seattle University Saturday at 2:00,
Western Washington Monday at 3:00 and Seattle Pacific
University Tuesday at 7:00. All three of the Yellowjackets’
opponents are ranked in the Far West Region. Tuesday’s poll
ranked Seattle first with SPU ranked third and Western fourth.
The Yellowjackets played in Spokane
against Gonzaga September 11 and lost 1-5, but came back
against Mary last week with a 2-1 win. The Yellowjackets have
yet to have a win against Seattle, SPU or Western in their
playing history. MSU Billings is a combined 0-13 all-time
against the three schools.
Thomas Pertuit (Sr., MF, Billings, MT) leads the
Yellowjackets in scoring with seven goals and two assists on
the season for sixteen points. Pertuit is also ranked second
in school history with 19 career goals. Brian Palmer (Sr., F, Laramie, WY) follows Pertuit with
three goals and one assist for seven points. Teammate Jesse Spann (Jr., F, Rock Springs, WY) has two goals for
the season with four points.
Marcus Riley (Jr., D, Kalispell, MT) and Joshua Hernandez (Fr.,D, Palmdale, CA) are both tied with
one goal a piece. Goalkeeper Jess Feldtman (Jr., GK, Lander, WY) has 34 saves on the
season and a .654 save percentage.
The Redhawks are unbeaten this season at
8-0-1. Bobby McAlister of Seattle is leading the NCAA
Division II West Region with eleven goals and one assist for
23 points. Western Washington’s Ryan Hopp is second in the
region with eight goals, three assists and 19 points. Brent
Egbert of SPU ranks seventh in the region for scoring with six
goals, three assists and 15 points.
