MSUB Soccer Signs Top Recruit (June 20,
2005)
BILLINGS, MT – Montana State-Billings
men’s soccer coach Dan McNally announced Monday that Andrew
Hernandez of Palmdale, Calif., has signed a national letter of
intent to play for the Yellowjackets. Hernandez graduated
this month from Paraclete High School in Lancaster and joins
his brother Josh on the MSU Billings soccer roster.
“Andrew is a great addition to the 2005
roster,” said McNally. “He is a player that I will build the
program around over the next four years.”
Hernandez is a 5-foot-10, 160-pound
sweeper who was a three year letterman in soccer. He also
lettered once in baseball. He played on Paraclete’s
three-time league championship team and also helped his team
to a CIFSS Division V title. As a senior Hernandez earned
first team All-CIFSS honors and was named to the first team
all-league team. He earned second-team all-league recognition
as a junior.
“MSU Billings provides me an opportunity
to get closer to my goal of becoming a pediatrician,” said
Hernandez. “It also gives me another opportunity to play
soccer again with my brother Josh.”
As a true freshman last year, Hernandez’s
brother Josh was one of just four Yellowjackets to start all
18 games. He scored a goal and an assist from his defender
position. |
