Men’s Golf to Compete in Otter Tourney (Mar. 17, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT - After a three week
hiatus from competition, the Montana State
University-Billings men’s golf team is set to compete in
the seventh annual Otter golf tournament hosted by
Cal-State Monterey Bay. The tournament will be played
March 20-22 on the Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside,
California. The first tee time is set for 7 a.m.
The Otter tournament will feature
twenty teams. Joining the Yellowjackets and host Otters
will be Barry University, CSU-Bakersfield, CSU-Chico,
CSU-Dominguez Hills, CSU-San Bernardino, CSU-Stanislaus,
Florida Gulf Coast, Ft. Lewis College, Grand Canyon,
Northwest Nazarene, Rollins College, Sonoma State, St.
Martin’s, UC San Diego, University of Hawaii-Hilo,
University of West Florida, Western New Mexico, and
Western Washington.
The host team Monterey Bay has had
three straight top six team finishes in tournament
play. The Otters finished sixth at the Family Motors
Invitational in Bakersfield earlier in the month, while
the Yellowjackets earned tenth place in the team
competition.
“This is a PGA qualifying course
and will be tough to play,” said head coach Roger
Bruckley. “However the men’s team gained a lot of
confidence after playing against top West Region teams
in their last tournament.” “The team is geared up and
ready to challenge the scores they posted in
Bakersfield,” Bruckley added.
The tournament will be played
shotgun style with 36-holes contested on Monday, March
21 and will wrap up with the last 18-holes played on
Tuesday, March 22. |
