Yellowjackets Jump to First for 3-Point Shooting (Feb. 22, 2005)
BILLINGS, MT – The Montana State-Billings
men’s basketball team moved from third to first for 3-point
shooting in this week’s NCAA national statistical rankings. The
Yellowjackets, who average 11.9 made 3-pointers per game, have
three games remaining. They host MSU-Northern on Thursday and
Johnson & Wales on Saturday. They finish the season at Western
New Mexico on March 3.
MSU Billings ranks second for scoring average
at 92.6 points per game. Pfeiffer continues to lead the nation at
95.9 ppg. The Yellowjackets are also 22nd for team
free throw percentage, hitting 74.9 percent of their free throw
attempts.
Individually, Cameron Munoz, a junior guard from Chino, CA, is fourth in the
nation for 3-pointers made. He is averaging 4.2 per game. Munoz
also continues to climb the scoring average rankings. He was 33rd last week and has moved to 28th this week at 19.8 ppg.
He is also ranked 34th for free throw percentage at
84.6 percent.
Buddy Windy Boy, a junior from Lodge Grass, MT, is seventh for
3-pointers made at 3.8 per game. He is also 34th for
3-point percentage at 42.1.
Justin Hassell, a senior from Brooklyn, NY, made his debut in
the national stats rankings this week. He climbed to 48th for scoring at 18.8 ppg, and 50th for rebounding at 5.5
rpg.
Sophomore Jonathan Wiley (Westlake Village, CA) is ranked 50th for free throw percentage at 83.8 percent. Freshman Carlin Hughes (Perth, Australia) also made his first
appearance in the national rankings at 18th for assists
average (5.5). Since Hughes missed the first five games of the
season, he is just now eligible to be ranked. All players in the
NCAA statistical rankings must play in at least 75 percent of
their team’s games. |
